THE SIERRA, Mt. Baldwin, Spring Ascent

There are many reasons to climb, and invigorating views is certainly one of them!

It's early May, but deep snow still covers the north facing slopes of the ridges and peaks south of Mt. Baldwin (12,614 ft). This photograph was taken on a first ascent of the "east face" of Mt. Baldwin. Snow covered slopes and a steep chute led to a fun ridge and face. In low snow years this route would not be nearly as pleasant.
