This innocous creek follows Highway 33, north of Ojai, and passes through scenic and sinuous Wheeler Gorge. From the highway the creek looks quite small and not too noteworthy. With adequate water we found it to be a surprisingly good five mile run that was technical and very scenic.
Like all creeks it has some serious hazards, but generally the character and quality was quite a bit better than we expected. Here is a photo taken near the put-in, and another photo of a more open section further down the run.
These photos were taken on a showery day in late January, 1997. About 2 inches of rain had fallen over the last 32 hours and an additional third of an inch (more or less) fell while we were on the creek
